Flash-based websites might be fancy with a lot of eye candy and media, but they're not friendly to mobile phones and are missing out on mobile traffic. They actually don't work, at all, on most mobile phones (iPhones, Android phones, etc). With the exploding growth in the mobile web, it's a smart move for any local businesses to take advantage of a mobile website. Businesses can increase revenues, expand marketing opportunities, and build loyalty through a mobile website.
Local businesses such as restaurants, night clubs, and bars are the types of businesses people are searching for. It's hyperlocal. How do we know? Google said so. One Google Exec also said desktop PCs will be "irrelevant" in three years. Did we mention that Google also advocates mobile websites over mobile apps? Alright, enough of what Google said. Although, it is reassuring when someone like Google reaffirms what we also believe in: the mobile web. This is a bandwagon that is worth jumping on. The sooner you jump on it, the sooner you can take advantage of the opportunity.
Some websites may be partly flash-based and not fully done in flash. For example, some websites have a slick navigation menu that is flash-based. When a mobile web user is surfing on-the-go, they'll hit the mobile website and then get lost because the navigation menu doesn't load. Eek! I would scream.
